Mini-adventure

On our way to the airport to get home to Bermuda, there was a crazy lightening storm.  When we arrived at the airport, it was running on generators because it was hit by lightening.  The people who just got in on the plane we were supposed to board were not allowed off until the lightening subsided, which was about an hour.  Not the greatest way to start a red-eye flight with two young children, but the boys were troopers and held out as best as they could.  Once we boarded the plane, we had to wait another hour or so, I am not exactly sure when we took off because we were passed out like the majority of our fellow passengers, but I if I had to guess it was probably about 2 am.

Needless to say, we missed our connecting flight to Bermuda once we landed in Toronto.  The flight took off at 8 and we got in at 9:30.  Thank goodness Air Canada was organized and had new boarding passes ready for everyone who missed a connecting flight for the next flight possible.

Our connecting flight was of course was the next day so we were set up at the Delta hotel.  The boys were excited about this little adventure and enjoyed riding in the shuttle van to and from the hotel, eating room service and watching cartoons all day (while Mommy and Daddy slept...well, mostly Mommy!)

The impromptu layover helped us recuperate from the red-eye flight but the early morning check-in still caught up to us.  The boys had enough energy to enjoy the long escalators at the airport but as soon as we were up in the air, the whole McCallum family had another nice nap.

The boys were happy to be home and rediscovered all their toys immediately.  And by rediscovered, I mean they made a huge mess in the livingroom!  They also decided to "make" their own breakfast the morning after we arrived home.  Sammy got the french bread and peanut butter, poured the two of them glasses of milk and water and had some shredded cheese on the side.  I thought it was so adorable when I found the milk and cheese all taped up with scotch tape after Sammy opened the carton wide open at the top and cut open the package of cheese from the bottom.  Home sweet home.
