Okay, so Jasper is not the Hollywood triple threat: singing, dancing and acting (who knows, maybe some day?!) but right now he is definitely the baby triple threat: getting up from tummy position to sitting position, crawling and climbing!
The getting up from tummy position to sitting position has been happening for about a week or two now but it still makes me smile when I find him in his crib sitting up and waiting to be picked up. He even got to perfect this skill right in front of Po Po and Gung Gung on the webcam. It became so easy for him as soon as he did it once or twice.
The crawling bit is getting faster and faster everyday. On the bed he is quick (maybe because the bed is softer?) but on the floor, he has been doing mostly the push himself up on his toes and then plopping down with his arms a bit ahead of him to get around. Today he managed to get himself across the living room floor pretty quickly using his knees and arms a bit more. It also helps to have something enticing ahead of him that he wants and usually that something is not what a baby is supposed to have of course. He definitely gets around faster when he is just in a onesie or just in his diaper, as opposed to in his sleeper or having pants on. Perhaps his sweaty feet give him some grip on the rubber mats, ha ha.
And the climbing! Yikes!! Lots of people warned me before Sam was born that boys are climbers but my cautious Sam never followed that "myth" and saved my heart from getting too anxious. Now little Jasper is about to test out how strong Mommy's heart really is and the gray hairs might start growing in too. I should clear up that it is not actually climbing but more pulling himself up on things, such as the picnic table and Sam's comfy blue chair but I am sure once he gets a bit stronger, he is going to have no qualms
about climbing up onto these said items. He has been able to pull himself up onto his knees for the past week or so and even tried out his legs, but they weren't strong enough to hold the hefty 20 and a half pound body (and head since it is still off the chart size wise!). At last, success was found today and he got to "stand" on his two feet. It was so sweet to see how happy he was of his accomplishment
I think my baby has forgotten that he is only 7 1/2 months old! Oh yes, I think I see a few gray hairs coming in - thanks Jasper!
Sam is also being the best big brother. When Jasper tumbles from one of his up positions, Sam asks him, "Are you okay Jasper? Mommy will come get you" (and he still pronounces his "k's" with a "t" sound so it sounds like "otape" for "okay")
Side note about my cautious Sam: he is just now comfortable jumping off our 3 inch high porch, super cute to see him jump off though. School is definitely transforming our little shy guy into a more physical outgoing (and a bit louder) of a boy.
