Sports Day

Sam and Jasp performed spectacularly at each of his individual Sports Day.  Both were still a bit timid but there were no tears and all effort from the boys, which is all a mom could wish for.

Sam's class was Team Yellow and they did 4 different activities before they all ran their own heat for the 400 meter race.

Below, you can see that Sam's friend is not as happy about his sixth place finish as Sam was.  Though Sam could probably practice more and get faster (and maybe be a bit more competitive) I love his happy-go-lucky attitude and how he does not let little things like this get him down.  He has come a LONG way from his first sports day when he was just 4 years old and needed Ms. Simons to hold his hand and run the race.  I'm just so proud of his progress!

Sam made a poster in his arts and crafts after school club the day before so Jaspy and I used it while we cheered him on.  The last event was the relay race and it was exciting to see all the kids work as a team to win their race.

Afterwards, we had a picnic lunch in which Sam's bud Kayin joined us.  Jasp loves hanging with the big kids so much.

A couple of weeks later, Jasp had his Sports Day, as part of Team Blue, with all the other kids from Children's House (ages 3-6).  Jasp looks a bit surly in the pics below but he did great for his first Sports Day and participated in all the activities, which they practiced in Phys Ed class.

So proud of his ribbon...just like Sammy's!!!

Pooped from all the excitement.
