Spring Break: part 1

We are already done week one of Spring Break! I think both Sam and Mommy can say that it has flown by too fast! Though Sam doesn't complain about going to school, I can see the pure joy in Sam's face as he walks around the house knowing he does not have to go to school and being able to do whatever he wants. I even find him humming songs (like classical music he learned from Little Einsteins and nusery songs like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star) as he is playing and walking around because his heart is just so content. When Jasper goes for his naps, Sam has his "quiet time", which is mostly a snack and iPad time. His favorite snack right now is Nutter Butter cookies (peanut butter filled cookies) - and he is in heaven. (He also lined up the cookies on his own accord, funny little guy!)

And even though I have two munchkins running around the house instead of one I love watching the two rascals play together, especially with the lego!  I will also admit that I like to sleep-in (as much as Jasper allows me anyways) and it is nice not having to rush to get Sam to school every morning.

Jasper certainly loves having big brother around and always asks for Sammy as soon as he wakes up from his nap.  On the first morning of vacation, he asked, "Monday?", which was pretty funny because Sam is learning the days of the week right now and Jasper just happened to guess correctly.

It was very good timing (and a fluke) that Gung Gung booked his visit during Sam's spring break.  Gung Gung had a pretty bad cold when he first arrived and needed to take a few extra naps here and there.  It didn't stop the boys from spending time with him, they just nestled right next to him while he was asleep...even in the 3-man sized tent that Gung Gung brought with him. (Just what we needed in our livingroom!)

Sam received his latest report card before the break and this is what is says:

Sammy's confidence in the classroom has grown considerably.  Although still reserved, he has shown slightly more assuredness lately.  Sammy oftern chooses work that he is most comfortable with, and is encouraged to select more challenging work.  In math, he is working with materials that will help him master the identification and one-to-one correspondence of single digits and teen numbers.  He has shown an interest in the decimal system by observing other children receiving lessons on this important concept.  In language, Sammy continues to work on letter-sound associations towards a mastery of the alphabet and we are working with him on a correct and firm pencil grip.  In culture, he is developing and enriched vocabulary and problem-solving skills by working with the animal and continent puzzles.  His fine motor skills continue to strengthen through the practical life activities.  Sammy is a delightful child and we look forward to his continued success.  Good job, Sammy!

After reading this report, it makes sense why after asking him what he did at school, he has lately been answering with, "Challenging work" and "Math, language and culture".  It's the truth I guess!
