When I asked Sam if he was excited to go back to school, he said he was (I am not sure if it was an enthusiastic yes but nevertheless it was a yes) but Jasper gave a straight out "No" in the tone of "Are you crazy lady?" And who could blame him after all the Christmas fun? Not that the boys haven't enjoyed Christmas in previous years but I honestly feel they both just "got it" this year and really appreciated every moment and enjoyed every gift they received.
The boys were really spoiled (surprise surprise) and here are some of the highlights of the gifts they opened gradually everyday, as if it was Christmas day everyday.
First up is LEGO!!! Anyone who comes to visit is amazed by how much we have and now we have more! Sammy is really getting into building smaller sets by himself but he had great help from Daddy, June-yee and Uncle Dan (whom I did not get a picture of!) building the bigger sets, including the Santa present he has wished for since almost last Christmas, the Ninjago Great Devourer.
Jasper had wanted the Jake and the Neverland Pirates Lego from Santa up until about mid-December and then switched his wish to marbles. Luckily, Santa got the message in time and was able to provide a cool marble maze with an extra bag of marbles. "Coincidentally" June-yee and Uncle Dan ended up giving Jasper the Jake Lego. Big brother Sam was more than happy to help set Jasp up with his new set too.
Jasp has been loving a new Disney show called Doc McStuffins (or Doc McStubbins as he says it) so he was really happy to receive this new etch-a-sketch Doc McStuffins clipboard that talks and helps him write and learn his alphabet. Another favorite is a musical card from Grandma where a dog yaps out Jingle Bells, which happened to be one of the songs he sang at his Christmas concert. It is so cute to see him either singing along or just bopping his head up and down to the music from the card.
Two of Sam's favorite gifts satisfied the gamer in him: a 3-D Plants vs Zombies puzzle and Mario Galaxy II for the Wii. He used to prefer "coaching" Daddy instead of playing the Wii himself because his controller coordination needed some practice but he has really improved a lot over the holiday and is completing many levels by himself.
Some presents the boys like to play together are the switch and go dinos from Po Po and Gung Gung that switch from vehicles to talking dinos and the puzzle drill set in which you can see the boys have found multiple creative ways to play with it.
Unfortunately the whole McCallum clan came down with colds. The boys especially had bad coughs that would trigger some puking if they ran around too much. So we just took it easy sometimes and had some quiet iPad time.
Jasp might have logged in the most iPad time...
Just showing off our new footwear from June-yee and Uncle Dan (sandals of course for Jasp!):
Have you noticed a theme in all the pictures so far? Yes, pajamas!!! Since we stayed home ALL the time, there was no need to change and way less laundry for Mommy to do! Yay!
But once Daddy started working again, I brought the boys out (surprisingly reluctant boys who had become homebodies) to the office for a short visit and a trip to the grocery store for some much needed supplies, like food!
But home is where the heart is and the boys loved being back in their pj's for a few more days before the start of school. We enjoyed some Christmas jello jigglers that Mommy forgot to make the day of and the last of the sugar cookies which have easily become the #1 treat for Sam.
Don't they make "a kid on holiday" look so much fun???
