Yay! January is done!

January is one of Mommy's least favourite months.  It is one of the longest months of the year and it seems to get dragged out even longer because of the post Christmas blues and the start of busy season for Daddy.  The weather is usually not the greatest but this year we have had a very mild winter with just enough rainy days for Jasper to splash in puddles but definitely outnumbered by sunny warm days to help the month go by more quickly.

Daddy took one Sunday off to take down the Christmas tree.  It is always great to have Daddy home but even more so because he makes the best biscuits.  Jasper always insists on making a heart shaped one for Mommy, lucky me!  Sam especially likes the Lego time together with Daddy, expanding on Daddy's Lego creations and he thinks of the most extraordinary embellishments.

The boys still appreciate their weekends at home.  Here they are "helping" with the laundry.  I thought it was so cute seeing Jasper sticking his feet out of his blanket on purpose because that is exactly what Mommy does because her feet get way too hot under the covers!

Sammy lost another front tooth mid-January.  He was pretty excited about this one because he got it out himself, no need for Daddy to pull or Jasper to knock it out accidentally!  I really wonder how he eats anything without those two front teeth...

We are full on back into school mode and Sammy is doing great with all his spelling homework getting 100% every week on his tests.

He has also adopted a new interest in Skylanders.  June-yee had asked me if he would like it for Christmas but I was not sure so I told her not to get it for him.  Well, one night at Josh's house and he is hooked!  So hooked in fact, he is taking initiative to make costumes to look like the different characters and making up new characters at the same time!

Jasper's drop offs are still up and down in the mornings but he for sure loves his home time after school before we have to go pick up Sam.  At 3 1/2, he still loves playing hide and seek, even though his hiding spots are quite conspicuous.  He will even answer while he is "hiding" when you ask him any questions like, "Did Jasper go back to school to play with his friends?"  Jasper loves choosing his lunch menu after school, "mum mum" (rice) frequently being a top (messy!) choice.  He has also learned how to spell his name verbally, having a strong grasp on the letter J.  He surprised me when he came up to me with his "J" Lego creation! And of course the puzzles and iPad are still top faves.

Last but not least, Gung Gung arrived!!!  He has come earlier than Po Po so that he could get his driver's license as Mommy will not be able to drive for about 3 weeks after her c-section with Baby McCallum #3.  (Which I am happy to report he has successfully obtained!)  Gung Gung arrived mid-day on a school day so only Jasper and Mommy were able to pick him up from the airport.  It was really cute to see Jasper give Gung Gung the tour of the house.  He showed him where Gung Gung's "beautiful room" was, where the snacks were located and the insides of the fridge (shown with a dramatic "ta da!" no less)

Gung Gung has fit right in with the iPad time, the after school reading and even getting Jasper down for a nap on the couch! As you can see, the boys are so comfortable with Gung Gung, they have no problem relaxing (and wrestling) in Gung Gung's bed.

Unfortunately, Mommy's computer has gone kaput so she is now trying to figure out how to use Gung Gung's Mac computer.  This post has taken way longer to do than it should have!  Gung Gung and June-yee are definitely way better at adopting new technology than Mommy, who gets stuck in her old comfortable ways.
Mommy and Daddy are pretty lucky to have Gung Gung here to clean up and help with the kids.  Mommy can finally (ha ha) catch up on the blog and Daddy gets to have some quality time with the kiddies after he gets home from work.  In fact, just tonight, Jasper looked out the dark window and said, "Daddy sure works hard at the office".  What an observant little guy.  And believe me when I tell you that Daddy gets the best welcome from the boys every night!  Daddy is definitely the fun parent of this household!
