Honestly, if Sam came home from school looking like this, I would consider pulling him out of school. Unfortunately, all the scrapes happened on my watch. On Wedenesday, we took the new balance bike out for a test drive in Ethan's neighbourhood in Warwick. Sam was very careful and had even asked me to bring his bike down the hill instead of riding it because "I don't want to fall and bump my head". But at the bottom of the hill, there is an empty building with a parking lot and a wheel chair access ramp that the kids were riding their bikes on. Sam was just almost standing there on the ramp when he fell and got a little raspberry on his nose (for which he needed a bandaid for of course). On Thursday, we went to Shelly Bay park and were chasing each other when he did a full-on face plant. If I weren't so concerned about his fall, I would have been tempted to take a picture of his
reaction when he got up because he had the big eyes brimming with tears and a mouthful of sand....poor sight. That added the big raspberry on his forehead. And then on Friday we went over to Rylan and Taryn's neighbourhood for some bike riding. We did not have the balance bike with us so Sam was on the purple and red trike (same one we keep on our porch). I was pushing him up the hill and let go as he was going down. Regretfully, the trike was going a bit too fast and a bit too out of control so it toppled over and decorated Sam's face with a couple more scrapes. Thank goodness Sam is not afraid of bikes after this week.
