What a busy month for our little guy!
A lot of playing and eating and eating and playing!

It didn't take long for Jasper to warm up to Popo when she first arrived. The first time Mommy left him home with Popo, he crawled around the house and checked each room to see where Mommy was but the next time they were left alone, he didn't do his search. In fact, Popo and Jasper have developped their own little routine like watching the cars drive by from the porch and learning little tricks like clapping (by saying "pat pat" and "ho-yeah" in chinese), "dancing" (waving arms like crazy to the music on the toy guitar), doing "omigosh" expression/playing peek-a-boo while eating, making funny sounds like "fake cough", "fake sneeze" and "sniffing", and practicing walking skills with the musical walker. Jasper is certainly not shy about begging for food whenever he sees Popo eating, he either climbs up on her for food or stays standing by her side doing what we call "the happy dance" (he does a bouncing movement by bending his knees as he waits for the next bite). Another favorite of Popo's is to feed him a package of baby Mum Mums as he looks so adorable holding and devouring the cracker. Jasper is eating some chunkier foods now such as peas, carrots, pasta, watermelon, apples, cantaloupe, crackers, waffles, biscuits and muffins...basically anything he can get his hands on! In one sitting, Jasper can eat a jar and a half of baby food (approx 6 oz), half a yogurt, half a waffle, some cheerios and some bits of fruit.

Jasper is a very observant baby. He watches what everyone does and you can see by the expression on his face that the cogs are working in his head and he is thinking, "how can I copy them?" One time, he saw Mommy putting the laundry into the front load washer so he crawled over, reached into the laundry basket, picked up a sock and tried to put it in the washer himself. If his coordination was a bit better he definitely would have got it in!

No more baby toys for this baby! Even though his brother is reluctant to share his big boy toys sometimes, Jasper eventually gets his turn and copies exactly what his brother does. Jasper makes his fair share of mess of toys in the livingroom now. He goes rooting through the drawers for his favorite toys like the puzzle with the doors and latches, the airplane, the pots and pans in the play kitchen drawers and cupboards, and of course the little cars that he "drives" back and forth on the table (like he is wiping the table with the cars). He also likes to "peruse" the selection of books from the bookshelf and whenever Mommy is a bit careless and leaves her blackberry out, he loves to send out emails.

Mommy is very proud of Jasper's willingness and ability to drink out of a sippy cup. (even carrying around the cup while he is crawling, what talent!) I believe this is also a case of "monkey see, monkey do" because he is forever going after Sam's cups but I don't mind at all because it will hopefully make it easy to wean him in a couple of a months...keeping my fingers crossed!

So what doesn't Jasper like??? Even though it does not seem like it in the photo, he does not particularly like the bath. He rushes to the bath when he hears the water running but when we dunk him in, he gives us an earful of his "I don't like this!" grunts and screams. Jasp is still a challenge to dress up. As you can see by this photo, Popo was struggling a bit and somehow the poor snake got into the mix of things. And last but not least, this baby boy has a pretty strict night time sleep schedule. He will let us know when it 8 pm or getting close to 8 pm. After milk and very minimal cuddling, this boy means business when it is time for sleep. He will make his little nest with his blanket and then it is off to sleepy land.
