Sam's school holds an annual Spring Fair to raise money for a specific school project. This year, the money will be going towards the refurbishing of the playground floor. It is currently full of bits of torn up rubber tires. Very soft for the kids to land on should they fall but very dirty!! I am not sure if they are replacing the chips with something else or just filling it up with more.
Daddy is working on the weekends again, getting all his work done before we head home to Canada for a month-long visit at the end of June, so Mommy took the boys to the fair by herself. We bumped into a lot of friends and everyone seemed to enjoy the fair, saying it is one of the best hosted on the island.

There were rides, stalls to win money chips to claim for prizes, food vendors and a fantastic raffle that offered even more fantastic prizes. The raffle is actually quite a brilliant idea: Each class is assigned a theme such as bbq, all things princess, all things superhero, kitchen, iPad, etc and the parents of each class all donate money for their child's class "basket" (they call them baskets but obviously a breadmaker for the kitchen theme is not going to fit in a basket, nor the cooler and keg for the bbq one). Each basket can be worth up to $1000! Anyways, all the visitors of the fair can then buy dollar tickets and insert them in the draw of whichever basket they want to win (therefore your chances are better at winning a basket if it doesn't receive as many entries) Unfortunately, we didn't win the superhero basket nor the iPad as Sam and I had hoped for.
Sam looked forward to going on the ferris wheel all the way to school but when we got there, he changed his mind. We bumped into another Sam at the line-up but parents on both sides could not convince the Sams to go on together. Instead, we had fun winning money chips that we eventually traded in for a cuddly octopus. Proud to say that Mommy was still able to shoot some good hoops with the basketball (with Jasper in the Bjorn too!) as that is how we got most of our money chips.
Sammy's favorite was the "Jar Tombola" stall. There was a whole bunch of jars (also donated by all the families of the school) that the kids could choose from. They were filled with things that varied from candy, to beading projects, to sidewalk chalk, to stretchy bracelets, to anything! Sam picked one filled with little animal figurines and another with little lizards - because we know he doesn't have any of those at home. (wink! wink!)
And I think Jasper's favorite part was lunch. As I had only anticipated to being there for a short time and being home in time for lunch, I didn't bring anything for Jasper to eat. Well, the octopus took us awhile to win so we ended up staying longer and getting lunch so Jasper got his first taste of hot dog. No surprise, he loved it.
