George!!!

It is not new news that Sam loves Curious George.  George teaches a lot of great lessons but as he is a very curious monkey, he unwittingly causes a bit of mess and trouble from time to time and of course Sam has keenly observed this aspect.  When Sam would accidentally spill or drop something while eating or doing an activity, he would say, "Geoooorge!" exactly the way the man with the yellow hat says it on the show.  It was quite amusing to see Sam use his imagination and transfer what he saw on tv to real life situations.  But soon the amusement wore off as "George" started pushing Jasper, spilling water outside the tub and getting the bathroom floor all wet, not sharing toys with Jasper, you get the idea.  We had to tell Sam to tell George not to do such things and it seemed to do the trick.

I still love his expansive imagination.  Sometimes he will tell me there is a lot of water on the floor and I will have a 5 second panic moment before I realize he means the blue blanket is the tidal wave of water.  I am a bit embarrassed to admit that I have fallen for the "water trick" a few times as I don't always see that he is playing with the blanket when he tells me about the water.

The other day he remarked that Jasper's mobile was gone (it has been for a few months now but he just noticed...maybe he gets this from his Mom!) and asked where it was.  I told him it is put away because it is just for small babies.  Later, while I was nursing and putting Jasper down for his nap, Sam built himself a mobile with his submarine toy and somehow attached it above his place in bed.  Very impressive!

Sam also has a Cookie Monster by K'Nex that he builds and calls it the "Iron Giant" just like the movie.  Other creations include his many potato heads, in which the moustache always goes under the mouth, not the nose, because there is not enough room under the nose.  Sam is definitely set in his ways.  And of couse he always loves playing with his boat and rocketship by Imaginext (great stuff!)  As the same with his brother (or maybe it is Jasper copying Sam), everything needs to be sorted.  All his squishy animals, his army men, little collection of books, blocks, puzzle pieces, cars,  all get poured into various containers, backpacks and suitcases.  I find things in the oddest places when I am cleaning up the toys.

Last but not least, it is a lot of fun to eavesdrop on Sam while he is bathing.  This boy LOVES his baths and can stay in there forever!  His choice of bath toys varies but when it is animals or men like his rescue heroes, you can hear the little conversations he makes up and it is so cute.
