Bye Bye Lemon Grove Road

Mommy and Daddy knew we were growing out of our place at Lemon Grove Road but were reluctant to leave such a good little apartment in such an ideal location (Shelly Bay park in our backyard!) and with such great landlords.  Mommy started casually searching through the listings in January and finally hit the jackpot in June, right before we were to leave for Alberta.  With illness in the house, Sam finishing school, Daddy busy at work cleaning off his desk for vacation, and packing for our trip, organizing a house move just seemed like an impossible task.  Luckily I had two very helpful little boys to pack our boxes.

Before we told them we were moving, our landlords had planned to surprise us by renovating our bathroom while we were away.  Unfortunately the contractor did not cover anything up while he did his work so we came home to a place where every single surface was covered in an inch of tile dust.  Very aggravating to say the least!

Since Daddy had already booked the time off for our AB trip (but we came back early to move), he used that time to do a lot of pre-move-in stuff.  He cleaned, painted and brought over a lot of items that were tedious to pack (like baskets of toys, our clothes and all of our china) We somehow managed to pack everything  else up in a few days and were more or less ready for our Saturday July 30th move-in date.  We were thankful to have booked the 30th as the 28th and the 29th are a major holiday in Bermuda.  The whole island is basically shutdown for a East end of the island vs West end of the island cricket match.  Our worst fears came true though when our scheduled 9 o'clock movers did not show up.  The man Will had contacted for the move was off-island but fortunately he brought his cell phone with him and answered Will's message.  Apparently there was a mix-up (ie we were forgotten) but he was able to gather up a team for us and they arrived at 11 and took 3 hours to move everything to our new place.

Will took charge with the move-in while I brought the boys out to our friends' house for some playtime in their pool.  It ended up being a lot of fun for me and the boys as they both were in a good mood and took a dip in the water with me, yes even Jasper!!  Magically, after we got back from Edmonton, he took to bathtime and his tolerance for water was transferred to the swimming pool as well!

Our new place is wonderful: lots of living space, even for all our visitors; a beautiful view; and a spacious porch which the kids love playing on.  Jasper may enjoy all the cupboard space in the kitchen as much as Mommy and Daddy - he loves having all access to his sippy cups, pots and pans, and before Daddy put in the kid safety latches (which I am sure he will figure out one day soon), the snacks!  With Sammy finally getting his own room, Daddy wanted to do something extra special for his little guy and got him a bunkbed!  Sammy only sleeps on the bottom bunk and we have to keep the ladder off so the littlest monkey can't climb up, but Sammy still loves his new bed and gets some quality relaxing iPad time up top whenever he can.

Just as a side story:  Sammy kept asking Daddy where he was going when he was prepping for the move so Will told him he was getting rid of the goats at the new place.  We kind of forgot about the goat story until Sam pointed out a marking on our kitchen floor and declared that it must have been left by a goat - those darn goats!
