Who loves water?

I did not enroll Sammy in any swimming lessons last year because I had just had Jasper and could not go in the pool with him.  As it turned out Sammy was not too keen on going into a swimming pool nor the ocean anyways.  Baby blow-up pools were okay but he would not stay in one for very long either.

It was a great surprise to me then at the beginning of this summer that Sam was super excited to join the other kids when they went into the swimming pool.  I actually regret a bit that I did not sign him up for any swimming lessons.  I knew Sam really liked going in because even when I had to tend to Jasper outside the pool, Sam was willing to go with another adult into the water and we know how shy he normally is!

Jasper, on the other hand, hated the water.  I know hate is a strong word but even if I took one step near the pool, he was ready to let out a cry in protest.  This also surprised me because he is so brave and nonchalant about everything else.  Unfortunately, I had already signed Jasper up for some swimming lessons (the same ones I took Sam to when he was Jasper's age) and was too late to cancel them.  Jasp cried almost the whole 30 minutes of the first lesson but by the last one (we had about 8 in total), we were down to maybe 5 mins or less of tears and Mandy the instructor may have even got a smile out of him at the end.  (Maybe he knew it was the last lesson?)

Sammy's class had an end-of-the-year party at a beach and he had a blast with all his classmates.  This was just right before he got the stomach flu (and missed the last 3 days of school) so it was nice that he got to at least end the school year with a fun activity.
