Grandparents and Special Friends Day

The day after Sports day, Somersfield hosted a Grandparents and Special Friends day.  Surprisingly we did not have a grandparent visiting this year for this event!  Mommy and Jasper decided to be Sammy's special friends and went to check out what Sam has been doing at school.

Sammy was happy to show us his latest endeavors in his studies about birds, the fish tank he helps clean everyday, an activity in the practical life section of the class (which Jasper really enjoyed), one of the cleaning duties that they have to do before they leave everyday (apparently sweeping is a favorite) and the one Mommy most enjoyed, his "math work".  He used the bead counters to recognize and count from 11 to 19 and marked it with different colors on his work sheet.  Sam is still working on his pencil grasp, which he is reluctant to practice with me at home, so it was really nice to see him putting in the effort at school.

A really neat project that the class did was make bird feeders.  All they did was mix bird feed, gelatin and hot water, put it all in a cookie cutter, let is sit overnight and then they have cool shaped bird feeders the next day.  Among many different shapes, there were teddy bears, stars and cats but my practical Sammy picked the traditional circle for his project.  Did I mention he is a son of an accountant?

Since it was Friday, Daddy was able to come home a bit early so we went to Speciality for dinner.  Daddy loves taking pictures (not) so I find these pictures quite amusing and had to post them for posterity.  It's really like taming clowns sometimes!  Ha ha.
