Unfortunately, it rained almost the whole day of the fair. There was still a good turn out but I am sure the school did not raise as much money as the previous years. We did our part, bought lots of tickets for games and raffles, had some hotdogs and cotton candy (not easy to eat before it melts in the Bermuda humidity and too messy for Sam of course!), and won a few prizes, including the coveted parachute man.

Spring Fair
Sam's memory amazes me sometimes. He remembers, or so he tells me, the Somersfield Spring Fair and insisted on getting a "parachute man" at the fair, like the one he got last year. At the fair, you play the different games at the stalls and try to win as many coins as you can so you can trade them in for bigger prizes. If you don't win a coin, the consolation prize is a little knick knack from the shoe box, ie a parachute man. (a figurine with a square plastic sheet attached to him so that when you throw him in the air it comes down like a parachute)

Sam did really well in the Oscar beanbag toss but his favorite was the Angry Bird toss and the very popular jar tombola stall. (where no skill is tested and you just get to pick a jar of treats donated by all the families at the school) Jasper got in the action as well with the tic-tac-toe beanbag race. He loved getting his "money" and since it was a prize in itself for him, we didn't trade it in for anything else. Between the coin, the parachute man and the cupcakes we brought home from the bake sale, Sam and Jasper did not have a bad rainy day afterall.
