The boys are definitely interacting a lot more lately and it is very sweet to see. I even saw Sam initiate a game of peek-a-boo with Jasper today. Sam's personality suits being the older brother as he is very nurturing and not very rough with Jasper (most of the time anyways!). You can already see that Jasper adores his big brother and wants to follow him around wherever he goes.
Jasper always wants to play with the toys that Sam is playing with. Sam is good at taking turns with toys when he is asked to but does not initiate sharing on his own very often. I taught Sam to exchange a toy with Jasper when he is playing with a toy that he wants to play with. I think this will work until Jasper can verbalize that he wants the same toy at the same time. Jasper observes and learns from Sam as he tries to play with the toys the same way Sam plays with them. One of their favorite games is the simple chase of the rubber balls that we have. Luckily we have two, a red one and a blue one, so they take turns rolling, throwing and chasing them around the livingroom. Laughter from both boys just fill up the house.
Jasper loves following Sam to the bath. Sam runs to the bathroom and giggles in anticipation while he listens for the sounds of his little brother's pitter patter of crawling. Sam says, "Here comes trouble!", but we know he loves it!
