No habla Espanol

Will had an opportunity to sit in Sam's class today to observe what the kids accomplish during school time.  During his half hour visit, the kids had a Spanish lesson.  Will said it seemed very informal as the kids were allowed to do whatever they wanted while the teacher taught her lesson.  Sam was one of the kids that did not pay much attention to the lesson.  Instead, he took off his shoe, smelled it and told Daddy that it was stinky.  Will said that the overall impression he had of the class was that the kids pretty much get to do what they wanted to do in class and the only interruption they got from the teachers was when too many kids congregated in one spot.

Though it seems Sam was not very interested in his Spanish lesson today he has been learning a bit of the language.   I had spoken with his Spanish teacher, Mrs. Brewster, a couple of weeks ago and she told me that although Sammy (as he is known at school since there are 2 Sams in his class) does not speak up during lesson he can correctly identify pictures when she names them in Spanish.  Bueno!
