HRH Prince Edward made a visit to Somersfield today so when I dropped Sam off at school, I told him, "You are going to see a prince at school today." Sam replied, "I see prints here", pointing to the footprints on the parking lot pavement.
I was parking the car in our driveway and I told Sam, "Mommy has to repark because she is a little crooked." Sam asked, "Where is the cricket? Is it outside?"
Sam was up on the counter washing his hands, and since I had Jasper in the baby Bjorn, he was reaching out and grabbing for Sam. Sam was a little annoyed and whined a bit but I told him that Jasper was just holding him so that he won't fall off the counter. Sam responded, "Oh! Thanks Jasp!"
Sam loves to look for the little creepy crawlies on the stairs every morning on our way to the car. There was a dead one and Sam pointed to it and said, "This one is not working" but was relieved to see the live one and said, "this one is working".
Sam woke up from his nap and ran to the window saying, "It's on!". (He was referring to the daylight)
Daddy had a kink in his neck a couple of weeks ago so it was pretty sore. Sam soothed Daddy by saying, "It's okay Daddy, Sam's here. Sam will kiss it better". Then he said he had a sore neck and needed kisses too.
This will probably not happen when he is older but we will enjoy this while it lasts: Sam is very cooperative when Mommy says, "We watched a lot of tv today, let's turn off the tv" - his response is an enthusiastic "Sure!" and he turns off the tv by himself. We get a lot of "sure" instead of "yes" (which a lot of outside people get a kick out of because it sounds so cute), just like how "dinner" is what every meal is called and "good morning" is the automatic greeting after he gets up including after naps in the afternoon. (even when he is all groggy and full of bedhead)
Last but not least, and this one is my fault for making him care so much, we were at an outdoor birthday party and he was eating a hotdog and told me with a very concerned look, "Mommy, I am dropping crummies". I guess I am a bit too strict about the crummies situation at home.
