Happy (Chinese) New Year

We are starting the year of the Horse on the Chinese zodiac this year.  June-yee will now have to share her sign with her newest nephew!  Po Po and Gung Gung had lai-cees for all three grandsons!

Since Sam has started school, Mommy has been going to class to read a couple of stories and teach the kids a little about the holiday every year.  Since it was International Day on Chinese New Year this year, I went a couple of days before CNY to Jasper's class (no picture though...sorry Jasp!) and a couple of days after CNY to Sammy's class.  Mommy even made chinese almond cookies for the kids which Po Po used to do for Mommy when she was a kid!  Even more surprising, Sam ate 2, nut and all!

We had a late playdate on the day of CNY so Mommy was not very prepared for dinner.  It is tradition to have noodles to symbolize long life so Mommy cooked up what she had in her cupboard...ichiban noodles!  At least the boys loved it and luckily Gung Gung can eat almost anything.
