Kau-Gung's visit

Mommy's Uncle Raymond had a convention to attend in Toronto and thought he would pop over to Bermuda for a quick little visit.  Mommy calls her uncle "Kaufu" in chinese so Sammy called him "Kau-Gung".  The sound is with a hard "K" but sometimes Sammy would say "Chow-Gung" which Mommy and Gung Gung found a little amusing because "chow" can also mean "smelly" in chinese.

Sammy met Kau-Gung once in Alberta when he was 14 months old so it was like meeting him for the first time again but it didn't take long for both boys to get used to having Kau-Gung around.  I think it also helped that Kau-Gung brought the boys a lot of presents including a couple of cool Doremon (Mommy's favorite Japanese cartoon character when she was little) water bottles.  Kau-Gung loved taking Jasper out of his carseat whenever we went somewhere because he knew that he was guaranteed an automatic cuddle with the little rascal.

Kau-Gung came all the way from China so his time schedule was still a bit off but he made it to Sammy's school everyday.  Since this was his first visit to Bermuda, we would do the touristy things we could fit in after Sam's drop-off and before Jasper's afternoon nap.  In just one morning, we saw the Lighthouse, Horseshoe Bay and Dockyards.  Jasper was very unhappy at Horseshoe Bay and it was only when we were leaving the beach that we realized that it was the crashing waves that were upsetting him.

It was not all rushed though.  Another morning we went to the Crystal Caves and then to St.George's and took a nice leisurely one-hour train ride and learned quite a bit of history of the town.  It was a bit long for Jasper but Mommy had just enough snacks to not get us kicked off the train.

It was very nice to see Kau-Gung and hopefully he will bring his wife Barbara back with him next time.
